Dr. Yagob Yousef Al-Mazrou

My previous professional experience includes working as Director General, Health Centers and Assistant Deputy Minister of Health Preventive Medicine and Assistant Deputy Minister for Curative Medicine, and lastly as Secretary General, Saudi Health Council.

In the research field, I participated as Principal Investigator in 22 of scientific researches in the areas of Maternal and Child Health, Primary Health Care and Immunization. I Published 105 scientific papers in peer-reviewed periodicals and journals, and published two books in Primary Health Care and Quality and 23 scientific reports.

I am Member of many scientific committees at the national, regional and international level; including Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization. In the field of Polio Eradication, I am the chair of the Regional Certification Committee for Polio Eradication for Eastern Mediterranean Region, member of the Horn of Africa TAG, and Islamic Advisory Group on Polio Eradication. I chaired both Egypt and Yemen TAGs for certification of Polio Eradication in the two countries, and was member of both Pakistan and Afghanistan TAGs.

I was member of the Executive Board, WHO (2001 – 2004) and member of Advisory committee for Polio Eradication, Geneva (2004 – 2010).

I was awarded the “JACQUES PARISOT” Prize for Research in Primary Health Care and Public Health by WHO in 1988, the “Universal Child Immunization Commemorative Medal” by UNICEF in 1990, and the Dr. A.T. Shousha Foundation Prize by WHO in 2014.
