Dr. Saleh Ibrahem Babear
Saleh Ibrahim Mohammed Babear is the Secretary General of the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) and a renowned academic and leader in linguistics, translation, and education. Born in Jazan, Saudi Arabia, he holds a Ph.D. in Linguistics and an M.A. in Applied Linguistics from Indiana University, Bloomington, and earned his B.A. in English Language and Education from King Saud University. His academic credentials are further enhanced by intensive English courses at Lancaster University, the University of Essex, and Stanford University.
Dr. Babear has held several prominent roles throughout his career. In the public sector, he has served as the Head of the Official Translation Division at the Council of Ministers and as a consultant for the Education and Training Evaluation Commission in Riyadh. His academic contributions include leadership positions at King Saud University, where he was the Head of the English Language Department and held multiple vice-dean roles, significantly impacting language education and translation studies in the Kingdom.
In addition to his extensive experience in education and government, Dr. Babear is an active member of various professional organizations. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the English-language magazine "Muslim Youth" and a member of the Arab Association of Linguistics and Translation Specialists, among other advisory committees related to language curriculum development and program evaluation.
